Context: The archetypal symbols of astrology have been around for millennia, and basically, astrology is a language that helps us map and understand our connections with the energy of a living universe. Astrology allows us to track archetypal human experiences and knowable life cycles.

In other words, the planets are not in charge, and do not cause or compel us to do anything. The same divine intelligence that created us also created the planets in our solar system.  Perhaps the best way to consider how astrology works is, when we look up into the sky at the planets, asteroids and key points in our solar system, it’s like looking into a giant cosmic mirror, reflecting our human experiences, energetic cycles, and evolution back to us.

This year’s Solstice features distinctly different energy!

The scoops: 2 days before the Summer Solstice, asteroid Chiron changes signs to Taurus.

On Friday, June 19, 2026 Chiron returns to the sign of Taurus for the first time since its discovery in 1977. Chiron represents the wounded healer and while expressing through Taurus over the next 8 years, Chiron points us to issues related to: our bodies, voices, sensual pleasures, self-worth, loyalty, core values, material belongings, and financial security.

Simplifying and getting back to basics are major themes and strategies of the next 7-8 years.

Taurus energy craves peace and simplicity, so embracing consistent routines focused on wellness, staying grounded and centered in our bodies will be important. Connecting to earth, listening to music, and healthy awareness of food, could increase our capacity for open-heartedness and calm. Spiritually, whatever a person’s gender, it could be useful to increase awareness and study of the divine feminine. Globally, issues with food supplies, basic human dignity, the health of the earth itself, affordability, income inequality and wealth gaps, will all become increasingly impossible to ignore.

The longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice correlates with a time of growing, and celebrating and enjoying the nutrients that give us life.  It’s a time to acknowledge the richness and fullness of life, its joys and sorrows, and the cleansing, strengthening light of the Sun. It’s appropriate to consider who and what we nourish and cultivate in our lives as we begin the summer season of manifestation and growth.

In Astrology, the Summer Solstice highlights Cancer energy and relates with: the mother(s) in our lives; our emotional, feeling nature; our homes; security and foundations; family, and the family story. It’s a time to consider:

• What am I feeling?
• Where do I belong?
• Where do I feel safe and welcome?
• How can I nourish, nurture, and take care of myself?
• How can I create safe spaces for myself and my loved ones?
• How can I develop a healthy base of security?
• How am I a container for life itself and how can I make more room in my life to grow?

THIS year’s Solstice enters with a focus on earnest productivity and benefits from positive connections of the Virgo Moon to a series of other planets before it changes signs to Libra later on Sunday.

Just after the Solstice occurs, the Moon in Virgo aspects communicator Mercury, then Chiron and action-planet Mars in sensible Taurus, and then buoyant, optimistic Jupiter in the last days of its year-long transit through sensitive Cancer terrain.

Additionally, we could experience more willingness to take action and do some footwork for our relationships, creativity, and our joyful heart’s desires, as relationship oriented Venus travels through generous, expressive Leo terrain and builds into a supportive connection to mature, disciplined Saturn in goal oriented Aries for several days after the Solstice!
