Astrological energies can express in many ways and, like a giant cosmic mirror, can reflect choices and potentials back to us across a range of possibilities. With that in mind, here’s some information about the next Mercury retrograde cycle, in case it’s useful. Mercury retrograde officially starts on Sunday 12/3/17 at 1:34am CT and this one could be a doozey (don’t shoot the messenger!) as it begins on the same day as the full Moon in Gemini (one of two signs ruled by Mercury). This Full Moon will also be the only visible Super Full Moon in 2017 meaning that it occurs at the point in the moon’s orbit where it is closest to the Earth. This causes it to appear slightly larger and brighter than normal.
This retrograde cycle could find many of us backtracking in order to reconnect with important issues and details that might have been overlooked in recent weeks; the silver-lining could be recapturing a sense of hope, adventure, and excitement and reclaiming threads of opportunities and goals we might have been distracted away from.
Be careful if tempted to alter or burnish the facts when revisiting previous communications– honest re-appraisals could lead to valuable learning or more satisfactory resolutions. Saying too much, over-explaining, lacking filters or nervous over-sharing are potential persnickety pitfalls of this particular retrograde cycle. People could also be more inclined to judgmental attitudes and impatience, making loads of assumptions about “what other people ‘should’ already know or understand” in addition to the “usual” issues that correspond with Mercury’s retrograde cycle where communications can go haywire and information can be lost, not available, or not clearly communicated.** There could also be a preponderance of people vehemently expressing opinions or preferences as if they were facts. Exaggeration, misinterpretation and interruption could become more prevalent in everyday exchanges, especially when communicating with folks who are over-booked or over-committed.
Keeping things brief could be an especially useful tool during this retrograde cycle.

The dates for this Mercury retrograde are 12/3/17 – 12/22/17 and since the next cycle starts in a couple of days, we are already in its pre-shadow phase where its effects could begin to express.
BTW, I apologize in advance, but I likely won’t be responding to individual questions about the retrograde cycle.
** A Mercury Retrograde Cycle is neither intrinsically good nor bad. It’s a 3 week cycle that occurs 3-4 times a year for approximately 3 weeks. During this period of time the planet Mercury appears to move backwards from the Earth’s vantage point.
Since Mercury appears to be retracing its path through the heavens, it can be beneficial to revisit, review, rethink where we have been — It’s a great time to have a personal, intuitive reading to support your process of reviewing and reflecting and preparing for what’s next!
Matters related to Mercury’s domain (information, communications, travel and exchange -including commerce) can be heightened and challenged in ways that make it hard for them to move forward smoothly. Often, perspective is lacking, needed information is missing, important details could be over-looked and delays, glitches or breakdowns occur.
Given this planet’s associations, its retrograde cycle often corresponds with unclear or frustrated communications and travel delays. Paying extra attention to details and allowing extra time for travel, meetings, errands and commitments can help decrease the stress of any snafus. Prioritizing one’s serenity can help in gauging when to walk away from an argument.
Issues or people from the past have an uncanny way of showing up during Mercury retrograde cycles. Sometimes it’s useful to get another look at something that once was vexing to see how far we’ve come, but getting re-involved with the old dynamics, people and situations is likely to yield the same result as before.
Mercury retrogrades can also reflect upsets with your instruments of communication and travel. Cars, computers, phones, appliances might act up or break down completely. If you travel, allow extra time and reconfirm your reservations. Consider going somewhere you’ve already been.
Mercury retrograde cycles are not considered ideal times to launch new communications or initiatives, sign contracts or make major purchases. Some people prefer to postpone those types of activities until after the retrograde in attempts to minimize the potential for miscues, glitches and revisions. However, it’s considered a great time to go through files, correspondence and clutter to clear them out.
