Spring Equinox:
On Friday, March 20, 2026 at 9:46am CT, the Sun enters O degrees of Aries, initiating the Spring season in the northern hemisphere and starting the astrological and energetic year!
During the equinox, the Sun shines directly on the equator, creating almost exact equality in the length of light between day and night.
The Equinox occurs at the exact same moment around the world, and looking toward the horizon, the sun rises directly in the east and sets directly in the west, whereas at other times in the year, the Sun appears off center if you’re facing those directions.
The Spring Equinox helps set the tone for the next 12 months and suggests guidelines for what to focus on for at least the next quarter, until the summer solstice. The Spring Equinox affords us a genuine, energetic opportunity to start our year. This is a natural time to set goals and declare our intentions for the next 12 months – to plant seeds and begin again.
One of the great blessings of the spring equinox is the courage that comes with the pioneering, brave sign of Aries.
This year’s Equinox carries its own distinctive, challenging, and promising energies as the Sun connects with mystical Neptune on Sunday and restrictive Saturn in the early hours of Wednesday 4/25. These conjunctions call us to have faith in our hopes and dreams – and to make plans and do the footwork to make them happen. Certainty of outcomes can be even more illusive with these 2 planets expressing simultaneously, yet taking considered action while focusing on each day as it comes are both important parts of our approach now.
We are still in the early days of a significant new era with Saturn conjunct Neptune in Aries. Individuals being responsible and each doing their part is what Saturn in Aries energy calls for; and those efforts, especially if combined with compassion for ourselves (Neptune in Aries) can make a difference in the vast cosmic (also Neptune) scheme of things.
The Mercury retrograde cycle ends Friday also – just a few hours after the Equinox!
Please keep in mind that there could still be some lingering after effects, like communication snafus or travel delays as Mercury regains its speed and position in the days ahead.
