Mercury Retrograde ends on same day as Full Moon! Sunday, December 15
However, there could still be some after-effects like communication snafus or travel delays as Mercury regains its speed and position in the days ahead. The next Mercury retrograde starts on Saturday, March 15, 2025
The Winter Solstice occurs early on Saturday, December 21
The winter solstice marks the shortest day of the year and the start of the winter season in the northern hemisphere. After the solstice, each day grows a bit longer and gradually increases in light!
Celebrated around the globe in various traditions, the solstice can be a wonderful time for ritual to honor the moment and the gradual return of the light.
Astrologically, the Sun enters zero degrees of Capricorn at the winter solstice, featuring a month of more determined and purposeful energies. THIS YEAR, the solstice Sun in Capricorn is separating from a challenging relationship with nebulous Neptune, suggesting that we might be emerging from some unrealistic expectations or fantasy-based energies, or possibly even a bit of confusion or lethargy as we enter the winter season. Pay attention to negative thoughts about what we “should” be doing, accomplishing, or experiencing. It could be wise to remember to be gentle with ourselves and others, especially since the demands to do way too much and to do everything perfectly could be heightened as the Moon is traveling through perfectionistic Virgo and challenging Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter. It could be really helpful to make a to-do list for both short-term tasks and long-term goals, interests and adventures – and keep it nearby so it’s easier to stay on track instead of spiraling into distraction and over-commitment. Jupiter’s presence suggests there is fun to be had if we can maintain a sense of humor, put one foot in front of the other and focus on the next right thing!
2025 brings many potent shifts in astrological energies which I’ll be writing more about, so spending even a few moments in reflection, or writing some simple notes of gratitude in a journal could help welcome in these energies and could also help bring individuals into greater alignment with their inner wisdom and spiritual source #WinterSolstice 2024
